About
Big Girl Solar was created because solar power should be simple, affordable, and built to last for years—not just a season or two. I grew up on the East Coast, where hurricanes and extended power outages were normal occurrences—they were part of life. I remember how unsettling it felt when the lights went out, communication stopped, and you were left waiting for the sun to rise. Those experiences shaped how I think about power, preparedness, and peace of mind.
I don’t believe in flashy boxes or proprietary systems you can’t fix, upgrade, or truly understand. I build equipment, not gadgets—power solutions designed for real use, not disposable convenience. I care about building systems that work in the real world and keep working when you actually need them. I don’t just build portable solar generators—I teach you how to use them with confidence, because when the power is out or you’re off-grid, clarity matters.
Everything I build uses accessible, standard components, I find on Amazon, Etsy, or local stores, not sealed plastic cases or hard-to-replace parts you can't access or change. That means your system can be repaired, expanded, and adapted as your needs change. I want what you buy from me to grow with you—not become e-waste because one part failed and you can't repair or evolve your power needs.
I also understand the quieter, more personal side of why power matters. There’s real comfort in having light at a dark campsite, being able to charge your phone, power a camera, or keep a radio running when you’re far from home. Whether it’s charging a cell phone, satellite communicator, GMRS or HAM radio, lighting your space, or getting through an unexpected outage at home, reliable power brings peace of mind.
